Keeping the Workplace Safe in the New COVID-19 World with Health Services Products
It’s been over a year since the COVID-19 pandemic entered our lives and dramatically changed them for the foreseeable future.
For many who have continued to work and meet in their usual workplace, day-to-day practices that were once unimaginable have now become generally accepted and are viewed much in the same way as brushing your teeth. Other practices are accepted as necessary but are also thoroughly disliked.
Mask wearing. Is there any other single practice that has so completely become a part of our lives in such a short time. Unfortunately, this practice looks like it will be here to stay for the near future and potentially much much longer. Is your business prepared with enough masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE)?
What about sanitization products? Are touchless hand sanitizing dispensers available at convenient common areas and/or near the entrance? Are alcohol wipes available?
Many businesses use handheld IR or auto-check thermometers to keep track of those entering the facilities in order to help identify those with the virus and minimize its spread. Those businesses just beginning to re-open should have these items near the top of the “need-to-have” checklist.
Indeed, in January, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a guidance “Protecting Workers: Guidance on Mitigating and Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 in the Workplace.” In this guidance, wearing PPE, practicing social distancing, maintaining good hygiene, ensuring sufficient ventilation, and identifying potentially infected individuals are all emphasized throughout. Alas, with COVID-19 variants emerging, these practices are likely to be part of our lives a good while longer.
