PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA (June 6, 2025) — DeltaTrak has been invited to join the International Fresh Produce Association’s (IFPA) “Supply Chain of the Future” initiative as a steering committee member for the Shelf-Life Prediction & Dynamic Incentives working group, which will present its progress during the Supply Chain of the Future Symposium on June 9, 2025, in conjunction with IFPA’s Washington Conference.
This initiative is built around four key pillars: Shelf-Life Prediction & Dynamic Incentives, Harmonized Standards, Smart Data Escrow and Intelligent Routing.
The steering committee brings together domain experts to shape the future of produce logistics through the development of open-source frameworks to improve interoperability, transparency and trust across the fresh produce supply chain. DeltaTrak’s inclusion reflects its leadership in real-time environmental monitoring and predictive modeling and its commitment to cross-sector collaboration and data-driven strategies that reduce waste and support sustainable practices.
“Shelf life shouldn’t be a mystery or a guessing game,” said Karl McDermott, chief SaaS officer at DeltaTrak. “By collaborating together as an industry, we can move from reactive approaches to proactive ones—using shared insights and predictive tools to improve outcomes for everyone in the value chain.”
DeltaTrak contributes to the initiative through its UBQ Network platform which connects real-time cold chain data from DeltaTrak devices and other sources, GS1 EPCIS traceability data, provides advanced shelf-life modeling capabilities and GS1 compatible 2D barcodes. DeltaTrak’s contribution will help define new benchmarks for shelf-life and freshness and will educate the wider food industry.
As a steering committee member, DeltaTrak is participating in multiple pilot programs this summer. One example includes working with service provider Danaco Solutions to validate shelf-life models and demonstrate scalable applications for the food service industry. DeltaTrak will also support expanded pilot programs and demonstrations at the IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show in October 2025.
“Our clients are dealing with real-world challenges around shelf life, waste and predictability. DeltaTrak’s devices bring trusted cold chain logistics data, and their UBQ Network platform provides data interoperability to reduce silos,” said Jim Schallman, founder & CEO of Danaco Solutions. “We are excited to pilot their shelf-life prediction to provide our customers real time actionable insights.”
“The greatest strength of the Supply Chain of the Future initiative, is that it is industry driven and industry owned,” said VP of Supply Chain at IFPA, Ed Treacy. “We agree that the challenges that we are facing will require an industry wide change and so this full industry participation is necessary. We appreciate partners like DeltaTrak, who recognize the urgency and importance of this initiative, and their support and expertise as we ensure our industry remains agile and on the front end of innovation in the global supply networks.”
